William Via Jr. Bridge NDT Lifetime Service Recognition

This recognition was renamed in 2016 to honor William F. Via, Jr., who possessed commendable dedication to increasing the effectiveness and innovation of NDT/NDE in the bridge and highway service. Via was a long term member of the Society who helped develop many standards and specifications that are utilized nationally in the bridge industry.

Eligibility

Nominees must be members of ASNT who are performers of significant exemplary service to the bridge and highway NDT/NDE industry through voluntary service. Activities performed as a function of an elected office of paid position shall not be considered.

Nomination

Nominations for the recognition shall consist of:

  • The resume of the candidate
  • A completed online questionnaire

Selection

A recipient of the recognition will be selected based on the nominee’s volunteer activities and their services contributed to the advancement of NDT/NDE, specifically in the bridge and/or highway industries. Service attributes may include, but are not limited to: chairing industry specific conferences, serving on or chairing infrastructure committees, authoring technical papers, giving presentations, and/or activities which foster collaboration in the industry. Nominations may be made by member of the ASNT staff, Board of Directors, the Awards and Honors Council, Local Sections, or any ASNT member
