The Space Race

The Space Race, a new National Geographic documentary, weaves together the stories of Black astronauts seeking to break the bonds of social injustice to reach for the stars, including Guion Bluford, Ed Dwight, and Charles Bolden, among many others. One of the executive producers of the documentary, Leland Melvin, worked in the NDE Sciences Branch at NASA Langley Research Center beginning in 1989 and continued working in NDE for NASA before becoming an astronaut.
