Hands-on NDT activities and career information in booth S17

(NASHVILLE, May 24, 2019) The American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) is excited to bring nondestructive testing (NDT) to the SkillsUSA National Skills and Leadership Conference TECHSPO for the first time on June 24-28, 2019.

This conference is annual conference is a showcase of career and technical education students and educators from across the country representing 103 different trade, technical, and leadership fields. ASNT’s participation in this event just makes sense. NDT is used to evaluate and insure the integrity of parts, systems, and structures across many industries including aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, infrastructure, amusement rides, and several others. Every bridge that is crossed, airplane in the sky, and pipeline that supplies vital fuels and water requires NDT inspections at fabrication and throughout its life.

With an exhibit booth (S17) across from the Aviation Maintenance Technology pavilion, ASNT will have hands-on demonstrations, giveaways, and video monitors showing where and how NDT work is performed around the world. This event provides an opportunity for attendees to discover NDT through the resource of the world leading NDT technical society, ASNT.

Every day NDT is performed around the world. This career field needs new technicians, inspectors, evaluators, researchers, and many more vital NDT professions to meet the ever-increasing demand of an workforce that must keep pace with the understanding the properties of new materials to be inspected such as composites and making certain the countless structures on which rely daily remain safe.

One of the activities includes an internal unit inspection using borescopes. ASNT is proud to have industry support from technology suppliers such as Jet Machine, Advanced Test Equipment Corporation, and Mistras who each provided the borescopes for this exhibition.
