Lester/Mehl Honor Lecture

Submit a Nomination 

The Lester/Mehl Honor Lecture recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the science of nondestructive testing. Such contributions may be made in the area of research, applications technology, management, education, equipment development, or other related areas.

This award honors the outstanding contributions to ASNT and the NDT industry by Dr. Horace H. Lester, and Dr. Robert F. Mehl. Dr. Lester wrote numerous published articles, fostered techniques, and did seminal work in ASNT committees. Dr. Mehl was the first person to use radium for gamma radiography.

Eligibility

Nominees must have made outstanding contributions to the science of NDT. Such contributions may be in the area of research, applications, technology, management, education, equipment development, or other related areas.

Selection

The Awards and Honors Council selects up to one individual per year. The recipient is expected to:

  • Provide a lecture at an ASNT Annual Conference.

  • Provide a written text of that lecture to ASNT for publication in Materials Evaluation.

Nomination

All nominations shall be in the form of a letter and contain information on the contribution(s) to the science of NDT made by the nominee and justification for recognition.
