Standards Council

The ASNT Standards Council plays a pivotal role in maintaining the highest levels of quality and reliability in nondestructive testing (NDT). It comprises industry experts and dedicated professionals responsible for developing, reviewing, and updating the standards that guide our industry to ensure consistency, safety, and innovation in NDT practices worldwide.

The Standards Council supports developing and maintaining ASNT standards and documents for qualifying and certifying nondestructive testing (NDT) personnel. They oversee ANSI/ASNT CP-189, ANSI/ASNT CP-105, ANSI/ASNT CP-9712, ANSI/ASNT ILI-PQ-2010, and SNT-TC-1A. ASNT is an ANSI-accredited standards developer (ASD).

ANSI/ISO TC135 Technical Advisory Group

ASNT is the US representative for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) NDT Standards and ISO TC135, known as the ANSI/ISO TC135 TAG (Technical Advisory Group). The responsibilities of a TAG include determining the US position on ISO draft standards, ensuring adequate US representation at ISO committee meetings, advising the US delegation on their positions, and nominating US technical experts to serve on ISO Working Groups.

Meetings are only open to individuals representing corporations/organizations within the US, individuals representing a US government entity, or a US citizen or permanent resident.
